A behind-the-scenes look at the Hobby Lobby antiquities scandal!
Join Duke's Department of Religious Studies and Duke Libraries with author Michael Blanding, author of The Gospel According to Hobby Lobby: Inside a Billionaire Family's Quest to Craft a Christian Nation, as we explore his book and the Hobby Lobby antiquities scandal. Blanding will discuss the Green family's acquisition of thousands of looted, stolen, and forged biblical artifacts for the Museum of the Bible in Washington, D.C. Drawing on previously unseen documents, interviews, and original reporting, he will share insights into the investigation, the international antiquities trade, and the legal and ethical questions surrounding the acquisition and collection of cultural heritage objects.
